I had the pleasure of meeting Efren at an art gallery in the Zona Romantica of Puerto Vallarta. He was immersed in one of his paintings, surrounded by the warm morning light filtering into the courtyard filled with art. I asked if I could go get my camera and return to photograph him while he painted, and fortunately he agreed. He shared with me about his internationally renowned sculptures and his experience of turning his home in Ajijic, Mexico into a museum for local artists to display their work. Efren is truly an artist and an extraordinary person to spend time with.
